You will need light in almost every space in your home. How much light depends on the space and what you are using or doing with that space. Although you may not need everything on this list, rest assured, there are some items you did not consider and it is a part of your lighting budget.

NEXT, WHEN DO YOU NEED YOUR LIGHTING PACKAGE?
Of coarse you will always want to stay in communication with your builder as to when they will need the lighting package for your electrician to install them. With that being said, it's ideal to order your lighting package during the end of the framing stage. This will, in most cases, ensure your lighting package has arrived and will be ready to deliver when it is needed. Generally, installing lights are one of the later stages of the building process.
Things to know BEFORE you select your Lights!
Doing your homework before making your decisions is the first thing to know before moving on to selecting your lighting package. Listed below are some things you should know, have, or do and the reasons why to make this part of the building process as stress free as possible.

Know your Budget! Building a new home undoubtedly has its challenges when it comes to staying on budget. When it comes to lighting, it is no different. If you are like most people, you pick what you love to only find out it is WAY over our budgets. We explain more on how to manage your lighting budget in our Tips and Tricks section.
Know your ceiling heights and room dimensions! As you already know, size matters.
Have your electrical plan. This is your guide to knowing exactly what you need and where. Looking over this with a lighting professional is highly recommended BEFORE electrical is ran in the home.
Make an appointment. When you are ready, be sure to make an appointment. This will ensure your lighting professional has the necessary time to spend with YOU.
HOW TO SELECT YOUR LIGHTING PACKAGE...
Selecting your lighting package can be overwhelming for the average person, luckily, you are hereπ. Everyone has their own style in which they like, so select fixtures and styles you love...after all, this is YOUR house, not your neighbors. Here are some helpful hints to help you narrow down your selection choices. Also, check out our "Understanding Styles" page to learn more about different styles.

Hint #1: Let's relieve a bit of stress...there is not a "Right" or "Wrong" type of style! Maybe some that the general public may not agree with, but again, it's YOUR house!
Hint #2: Chances are, you are not an interior decorator, so keep it simple and follow some of our basic guidelines below and your lighting package will look spectacular.
Hint #3: It is typically better to error on the bigger size of fixture if you are unsure. Check out our "Fixture Size" Page to learn more.
Hint #4: Pick one similarity, and stay with that theme with all your fixtures.
Examples:
Similarity --> Color is Nickel
(Fixtures can cross different style genres so long as they each have nickel.)
Similarity --> Traditional Style
(Lighting elements can be different finishes so long as the style of fixture is traditional. EX: Fixture in dining room is a Traditional Persian White Chandelier, Fixture in Foyer is a Traditional Bronze Chandelier)
